MALAYSIAN INSTITUTE OF PLANNERS
The Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP), was founded in 1972 with permanent headquarters in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. MIP is the national body representing planning professionals. Its primary focus is on the promotion of Town Planning, supports its development and serves the public interest of the Malaysian communities. It does this primarily by ensuring the existence of a body of professional planners with the appropriate knowledge, training and skills to promote the advancement of town planning in Malaysia. It has over 1000 members consisting of town planners who work at state and local planning authorities, government agencies, as town planning consultants, lecturers in universities, or as planners for developers, financial institutions and various organizations with planning and development role.
The institute promotes quality built environment, cultural significance and economic sustainability to achieve quality of life and create vibrant communities. The institute continuously looks for opportunities to work with partners from the global regions to promote its members (whom are town planners) to provide services globally, to promote best practices and the Malaysian capability and expertise.
